Following the success of the construction at Bradley Stoke Active Lifestyle Centre, Createability are continuing their partnership with Alliance Leisure Services – the appointed Framework development partner, to provide Circadian Trust and South Gloucestershire Council refreshed and extended facilities to Longwell Green Leisure Centre.
Longwell Green leisure centre was originally built in 2007 and sits on a former farm site. It was originally designed to reflect this, marrying its rural past with a modern contemporary aesthetic. The original building consists of a precast concrete structure for the pool hall, with a steel structure wrapped around this for ancillary facilities. The facilities layout was designed to be clear and welcoming, with timber external cladding and further sustainable, natural materials have were used alongside the site benefiting from extensive landscaping.
The £1.5million expansion designed by Studio Four Architects, will sensitively enhance the current building and provide a new entrance, lobby area and corridors. With a new pool entrance to the changing village for the 25-metre pool and learner pool. New facilities for disabled visitors consisting of wet and dry changing rooms and toilet provisions. New male and female dry changing rooms. A new 107 sq. meter extension to the existing 282 sq. meter fitness suite along with various pieces of new Technogym equipment. A new 137 sq. metre studio will be created, providing a facility for new group classes with a wide variety including Les Mills GRIT and BodyPump, and virtual classes.
