Work has recently completed on the changing pavilion at Desborough Recreation Ground in High Wycombe. This £390,000 new build changing rooms pavilion for Wycombe District Council was officially opened today.
The building provides quality changing facilities which will service the park’s football pitches. It will also enable adult teams to play football matches at the park for the first time in a decade.
Today’s opening ceremony was carried out by Cllr Lesley Clarke OBE, Chairman of Wycombe District Council accompanied by Cllr Zia Ahmed, Sands ward member, and Brian Thompson, Sales Director at Createability Limited.
The recreation ground is an attractive and quiet area in this busy part of the town. It is bounded on both sides by the River Wye and benches are situated in various locations for people to sit and admire the views. The recreation ground is used mainly by children and parents using the popular play area.
A dilapidated building which had stood on this site for many years was demolished in 2012, in order to make way for the new structure.
The new changing rooms are of traditional build, with the addition of increased security features such anti vandal doors.
The pavilion houses four separate changing zones, enabling up to 12 customers to use the facilities at the same time. Each zone includes toilet cubicles and four showers, and benefits from underfloor heating and hygienic board ceilings and walls that can be wiped clean.
Customers booking a football pitch can also book the changing rooms. The lights, heating and water will be activated when they enter the premises and will automatically switch off when they leave.
The building is energy efficient and has PIR sensor lighting to reduce energy wastage, as well as timed shower controls so that water cannot be left running.
Cllr Lesley Clarke OBE, Chairman of Wycombe District Council said:
“The Council’s significant investment means that we have a stylish, fresh new pavilion that the residents of the district can be proud of.
“We hope the new pavilion will encourage more of the community to come along and use the fantastic facilities on offer here at Desborough Recreation Ground.”
“Clubs can book the facilities through Wycombe District Council’s Green Spaces team.”
Brian Thompson, Sales Director at Createability said:
“We are delighted to have been involved with the construction of the pavilion and are very proud of the result. It will certainly be a great asset to the High Wycombe community.”
